The Sony KDL32W5500 is one of the latest and greatest products in Sony’s new range of budgets and midrange flat screen LCD televisions. However, it is important not to be put off by the fact that it is a cheaper model than many of the others on the market.
As reviews show, the KDL5500 comes with some features and abilities that you would typically only find in higher end models. Most notably is its ability to play full HD, meaning that you don’t have to compromise just because you’re a fairly tight budget and go for something which is only simply high definition ready. This means that it is ready to play back at 1080 pixels.
Since most of the videos appearing on the market today are optimised to play back at this resolution, it makes the screen a perfect choice for something that is future proof and extremely high quality in terms of playback. In fact, it is somewhat of a false economy to go for something that is nearly ready for high definition content unless you’re a very tight budget.
You won’t be disappointed by the performance of this model if you are watching older content as well. The vicious will be improved dramatically by the high quality build of the screen and its advanced picture processing techniques and various options that you can use to customise the image quality.
The KDL32W5500 certainly looks stylish and decent, of a high quality build and something that is designed to impress. It will have great in a dedicated television room but it will have fine in your living room or anywhere else in the house as well. What’s more, it isn’t a huge screen, being only 32 inches diagonal, so it will be far more versatile than some of the bigger models on the market today.
You also have various connection options including the ability to wire up your personal computer, a laptop, games consoles, DVD players and digital camera and much more.
The screen also comes with a built in set of stereo speakers witch while perfectly reasonable in terms of quality, certainly don’t come close to emulating a 5. 1 surround sound system. This is the case with all flat screens, regardless of how much you pay for them.
In that respect, it is much better to get a dedicated 5. 1 surround sound speakers system. They aren’t very expensive, but then there is little point in buying a decent screen to watch movies on when you only have built in stereo sound capabilities. Since all movies are encoded in Dolby surround, you will have a far better viewing experience by upgrading the speaker system and it doesn’t cost a lot of money either.
The Sony Bravia KDL32W5500 also comes with Freeview, allowing you far more channels than you would normally get on a terrestrial television. This also negates any necessity to get an extra set top box to be able to tune into a load of extra free channels.
